Meet Bianca!

Hello, I'm Bianca!

I was born in the mountains of the Molise region of Italy in April 2001, with my brothers, Neve and Nereo. Our father was a white cat called Giorno, and our mother a black and white cat called Mascherina. Our grandmother is Nerina, the matriarch of our clan and still alive and well. She was a city cat, abandoned in the mountains many years ago: I think I inherited her touchy temperament.

We used to play all day long together! With the humans, I was always quite shy, however. Neve was more outgoing than me, despite the fact he was deaf. Unfortunately, he took ill and passed away: we white cats are very sensitive. My parents and Nereo also passed on, and I was left alone.

I had some problems too: my skin is more delicate than other cats, and my ears got sunburnt from my time living outdoors, which, over time became tumours. My ears were very itchy, and I used to scratch them often til then bled - yuck! The tumours spread to my eyes too, which often get infected.

My human friends tell me that I have other problems too, like renal failure, which means that my kidneys don't work very well. I also had anaemia! So many problems...thankfully now I'm living in an apartment in the city, Rome, and being treated by some very good vets.

Enough talk about sad things! Let me tell you about me!

I like:

- my biscuits! They're all I eat!

- playing with balls! See my photos and videos!

- a friendly hand to brush my face against, or anything really I can brush up against!

- hunting! once I even caught a little bird on the apartment balcony! My human friend was not very happy though: they're odd those humans!

- a good pat on the back (literally!) - especially while I'm rolling around on the floor!

- jumping on black lounges and leaving white fur behind - the lounge looks much prettier like that!

- sleeping!

- running around the house like I'm hunting, with my tail all bushy like a squirrel! I used to love running up trees too back in the mountains - I wish they'd put a tree in the apartment!

- looking at myself in the mirror

- dogs and other cats, if they're friendly!

- to take my time after I've gone to the loo to make sure that the litter sand absolutely definitely covers everything! I'm a clean freak!

I don't like:

- playing rough, or having my head touched. Moderation please! Otherwise I get cranky and scratch or bite!

- subcutaneous drip! It hurts and I have to stay still so long! And afterwards I'm big as a ball...not nice!

- taking tablets, unless they're ground down to a powder and stuck on my biscuits with margarine (I know they're there, but it tastes more like biscuit than medicine). Fingers down my throat, no thank you!

- going to the vets: not only do they sometimes put me on a drip, they give me shots, take my temperature, poke me, xray me, sedate me, shave me and take blood or give me ultrasounds...torture! I know that they agree with my human friends, and are only doing it to help me, but I don't like it!

- closed doors, or being alone. I "meow" until someone comes!

- eating alone! I like to be encouraged with pats or just being around my human friends, since I don't have any cats to share my food with like before.

- little humans! They are not much bigger than me, but they move funny, with hands and legs everywhere! They're scary!

I've been through a lot because of my illnesses, but now I'm doing OK. I don't really understand what all the proding and poking is for, but my human friends tell me that once my renal failure stabilised, and my anaemia was cured, it was time for chemotherapy. Let's hope all goes well!

But all this treatment costs alot. There are medecines, vet checks, tests, special food...so my human friends thought they would make this website to ask for help from everyone who has a look at it.

Will it work? I don't know! The important thing is that now you know me and my story!

Now you can:
